1st Mountain Coffee Fest - Barista Workshop

About the Event
The sole motive to organise the workshop is to provide information and much-needed training in the upcoming coffee industry of the hills. We hope to cover learning sessions through lectures, demonstrations and practice. To ensure a personalised experience, we have optimised the ratio between participants and baristas- who have many years of experience to their credit.
Mentors -
Sonam Sherpa
Sonam Sherpa started his career in Food and Beverage industry in 2016. He started his career as a barista in UAE, where he worked for almost 3.5. years in the global coffee chain, Costa Coffee. He learned barista skills at Costa Coffee Academy. According to him, coffee provides a platform to learn and share something new every day whilst giving an opportunity to share skills and knowledge. Participating in coffee competitions has boosted his career growth.
He has few accolades to his name due to his active presence in the coffee industry. As a barista in Costa Coffee, he participated in the annual barista competition in 2020 and was declared Costa Coffee Area Champion 2020. Due to his interest in coffee, he regularly participated in Latte Art competitions in UAE, where he was crowned the winner. Currently, he runs and is the founder of Coffee Culture Darjeeling.
Puja Thapaliya
Puja Thapaliya has been working in Speciality Coffee for over 4 years. She started her career as a cashier, it was then when she wasn’t very fond of coffee. She gradually developed taste for coffee and showed keen interest, which made her learn more about the subject from the baristas that worked in the café. She further joined a barista training academy, which increased her interest tenfold. She has always welcomed coffee enthusiasts to share her knowledge. She strongly believes that educating people on coffee how to make a cuppa is crucial.
